Where to start? I’ve been screaming into my Facebook echo chamber for years now, and I think it’s time to move to substack, where my often longer, hopefully well-reasoned posts will find a nice home.
I’ll start with an introduction, and then I will follow with a recent Facebook post so you can see if my writing style is of interest to you.
My name is Bill Konigsberg. You may have heard of me! I’ve written seven young adult novels, and I’ve won some awards for them, including the Stonewall Book Award (THE PORCUPINE OF TRUTH), the Lambda Literary Award (OUT OF THE POCKET), the PEN Center USA Literary AWARD (THE PORCUPINE OF TRUTH), and the Sid Fleischmann Award for Humor (OPENLY STRAIGHT). Two of my novels (OPENLY STRAIGHT and THE BRIDGE) have been out in Hollywood for a bunch of years with some exciting interest but no current green light. A bunch of my novels have been translated into different languages (Currently 8: German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Estonian, Hebrew… I think that’s it?), and the National Council of Teachers of English has named an award for me (The Bill Konigsberg Award for Acts and Activism Toward Equity and Inclusion).
Currently, I am becoming more active in the fight against the current administration. I am not a fan of Fascism, Dictatorships, Ignorance, Hatred. So yeah, I’m active against that and a lot of my writing here will be my thoughts as well as some calls to action. Stay tuned! I am about to publish this, followed by my first of many political rants. I don’t know how this all works yet, but my hope is that you’ll follow me! And over time, maybe you’ll subscribe
